A workshop on “Recent Trends and Career Development in Clinical Research –INDIA”, was organized at Bhaskara Auditorium on 19th November 2014 by SAMSKARA, a Non Profit Organization based at Hyderabad and The Global Health Network, Oxford University, UK for the first time in Telangana.   The workshop was well attended by eminent administrators, researchers, doctors, nurses, clinical research-professionals from Telangana region and across the country. The one day workshop tried to bring about the possibilities for the medical community to network, share its ideas and innovations. 

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri M.S.Prabhakar, Member of Legislative Council Chief Guest and was attended by Guests of Honour, Dr Veena Kumari, Commissioner, Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad, Shri P Venkateshwarlu, Asst Commissioner, Drug Controller Administration, Telangana State, Shri J Rajender, Asst Commissioner, Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad, Dr Sudha Kishore, eminent gynaecologist, Dr Vijaya Bhasker, Eminent Orthopaedician, Ms Nicola Mc Hugh, Project Coordinator, Global Research Nurses Network, UK, Mr Joby George, Research Nurse and Member, Global Research Nurses Network, Ms Jyothsna Tirunagari, President Samskara, Dr Sreedhar Tirunagari, Regional Faculty, Global Health Trials, Dr Vinaya Sheela, Eminent Academician and other dignitaries.

National and International speakers who attended the workshop stressed on the importance of research in today’s world. Different topics covered in the workshop include the importance of Global Research, methodology of using research as tool for quality health care and in practice, role of nurses and pharmacists in research, current regulatory challenges in conducting of trials in India, importance of trained man power in clinical research industry in view of growing market demand and many more.

The workshop was attended by more than 300 delegates across the country. Participants had an opportunity to find out more about research taking place locally in India and were encouraged to join and participate in the Global Health Network.

The valedictory function in the evening had Shri P Sudhaker Reddy, Member Legislative Council, Teacher Constituency for Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Medak dists, Ex President PRTU as the chief Guest.
