WHO REGISTERED TO TAKE PART

Griffith University, Australia, NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Nursing (NCREN) is running the ONE MILLION GLOBAL CATHETERS PERIPHERAL INTRAVENOUS CATHETER STUDY (OMG PIVC STUDY), a global prevalence study examining the care and management of peripheral IV catheters (www.omgpivc.org) in adults and children.

Sites will take part for ONE DAY and contribute to a large and important world wide observational study to find out about prevalance of IV peripheral catheter use.

This study is examining the care and management of peripheral IV catheters (www.omgpivc.org) in adults and children. It is a one-day study to be conducted in over 500 hospitals in 50 countries worldwide. The actual day is chosen by each hospital, depending on workload, etc. There is no intervention planned within the study. This is simply an observational study of PIVCs. The purpose of the study is to benchmark clinical practice between hospitals and identify areas for improved education, as well as highlight more effective use of resources and consumables.

CAN YOU HELP? Sites will take part for ONE DAY and contribute to a large and important world wide observational study to find out about prevalance of IV peripheral catheter use.

The study has been granted ethical approval from numerous national and international committees. We have had a phenomenal response from nurses and doctors around the world, and it would be wonderful if you could spread the word further. We are recruiting hospitals until December 31st, 2014, and collecting data until May 2015.
