The Global Research Nurses (GRN) and The Global Health Network (TGHN) are pleased to announce a specialized two-day workshop designed to strengthen data analysis capacity among nurses and midwives in Ghana’s Health Training Institutions. Titled “A 2-Day Workshop on Data Analysis for Nurses and Midwives in Health Training Institutions in Ghana Using Free and Open-Source Software,” this training will equip participants with practical analytical skills essential for today’s evidence-driven health systems.
As the demand for data-informed decision-making continues to grow, nurses and midwives who form the backbone of Ghana’s healthcare workforce must be empowered to interpret, analyse, and apply data effectively. This workshop provides a unique opportunity to build those competencies using accessible, free, and open-source tools.
Dates: November 13–14, 2025
Time: 7 hours per day
Structure: 2 days, 4 sessions (each approximately 3 hours)

This immersive workshop is tailored for nurses and midwives at Health Training Institutions and Graduate Schools seeking to enhance their data literacy and analytical capabilities.
In health research and practice, data is only as valuable as the ability to analyse it. Strengthening analytical skills among nursing and midwifery professionals helps improve decision-making, enhances research quality, and promotes evidence-based interventions that directly impact patient outcomes.
By focusing on open-source tools, this training ensures that participants can continue practising and applying what they learn long after the workshop, without financial barriers.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Participants will learn to organize, visualize, and interpret datasets—identifying trends, patterns, and insights crucial for research and clinical decision-making.
Through hands-on sessions, attendees will gain skills in creating automated, reproducible reports that support consistency, transparency, and evidence-based practice.
The workshop introduces practical applications of AI in data processing and analysis, helping participants understand emerging digital tools that can strengthen research impact.
This workshop represents an important contribution to strengthening Ghana’s research ecosystem by empowering nursing and midwifery educators, researchers, and leaders with the analytical skills required for high-quality research and informed healthcare delivery.
