The Global Research Nurses (GRN) and The Global Health Network (TGHN), with generous support from the Burdett Trust for Nursing, are excited to announce an exclusive one-day hands-on workshop designed specifically for nurses and midwives in Uganda. Titled “Turning Research into Publications: Hands-On Manuscript Writing Workshop,” this event aims to empower participants with the essential skills needed to convert research findings into publishable scientific manuscripts.
Nurses and midwives play a vital role in identifying healthcare challenges, generating evidence, and shaping patient-centered solutions. However, many lack structured training in scientific writing, a crucial step in sharing research insights with the wider scientific community. This workshop seeks to bridge that gap by offering practical, immersive training led by experienced facilitators.
Date: 15th November 2025
Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Kampala Time)
Venue: Forest Cottages, Kampala
Language: English
Target Audience: Nurses and midwives from research institutions, training institutions, Master’s and PhD programs, and those in leadership or managerial roles
Cost: Free of charge
Certificate: Participants will receive a certificate of attendance
This full-day interactive workshop will guide participants through the process of preparing a scientific manuscript from structuring ideas to navigating journal submission systems.
Strengthening the capacity of Uganda’s nursing and midwifery workforce in scientific writing is key to increasing the visibility and impact of locally driven research. By building skills in manuscript development, the workshop contributes to elevating the role of nurses and midwives as leaders in evidence-based practice, policy dialogue, and clinical innovation.
By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:
Gain clarity on what happens from drafting a paper to journal acceptance.
Learn how to organize a paper using global standards such as IMRaD.
Develop writing approaches that improve clarity and readability.
Engage in hands-on activities to begin writing introductions, methods, results, and discussions.
Improve accuracy and avoid pitfalls that often delay publication.
Build confidence in responding to reviewers and handling revisions.
Understand ethical authorship, teamwork, and transparency in publication.
