Charity Maina, a member of the Global Research Nurses' network, suggested that we a hold competitions for student nurses to celebrate IND 2014. They were asked to write about 'Why is International Nurses' Day important?' Charity organised a competition in Abuja, there were 26 entries from students of nursing and midwifery. We awarded a textbook to each of the winners: Julieth Ugwona won the Nurses' prize. Francisca Ikechukwa won the Midwifery prize. Joby George organised a competition in New Delhi, where 21 student nurses entered, and the winner was Stephi Dileep.

I wish all the nurses a very happy international nurses day,Thanks to Charity Maina for this wonderful idea and to add on the efforts of Nicola made the day very special to the nurses of delhi, specially to the young budding nurses.
We all should collaborate as stakeholders and able to create a platform for nurses across region in the near future and I'm sure that we can see so many visionary nurses in the days to come.
Once again best wishes.
