A NURSES' RESEARCH WORKSHOP TOOK PLACE IN ENUGU NIGERIA ON 24TH SEPTEMBER, 2014, ORGANIZED BY EKEZIE RALUEKE OLUCHUKWU AND SPONSORED BY GLOBAL NURSES RESEARCH NETWORK.

The Workshop commenced at 10:00am at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital School of Nursing hall. 30 Nurses came from hospitals including the University of Nigeria Teaching hospital (UNTH) Enugu, National Orthopeadic Hospital, Enugu (NOHE), Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Teaching Hospital, (NAUTH), Nnewi, Nicola McHugh from Global Nurses Research Network UK Participated via Skype and screen shared some of the presentation during the workshop. Population Health Scholarship; Opportunity for emerging Community Health Leaders to attend a one week course in Washington

The Population Health Scholarship Program is designed to bring emerging community health leaders to Washington for a week-long policy bootcamp, including participation in the 2015 National Health Policy Conference (NHPC), meetings with policymakers and community health stakeholders, and networking events with key advisors from AcademyHealth's Translation and Dissemination Institute and the Committee on Advocacy and Public Policy (CAPP). By connecting these scholars with national experts, they will gain valuable insight into the policymaking process and learn new methods for translating and disseminating their work to decision makers. WHY INTERNATIONAL NURSES’ DAY IS IMPORTANT

International Nurses’ Day is celebrated around the world on 12th May of each year to mark the contributions nurses make to the society and the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. The International Nurses’ Day started in year 1965. Each year a service is held in West minster Abbey in London. During the service a symbolic lamp is taken from the nurses’ chapel in the Abbey and handed from one nurse to another, thence to the Dean who places it on the high Altar. Read more...
