In 2015 the SA Regional Faculty secured co-funding from TGHN and the Newton Fund/SA National Research Fund to host a 2-day mini conference in Cape Town. The funding allowed us to invite 2 speakers from a twin facility at The Guys and St Thomas Biomedical Research Centre, London and also host a group from the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center of Harvard and Brigham and Women's Hospital. A jam-packed 2 days with plenary speakers and parallel workshops offered something for most people involved in clincial trials, whether investigators, nurses, data managers, laboratory staff, statisticians.

See the poster on the right hand side for details of the session which spanned Data monitoring committes, pharmacovigilance and vaccine development; quality and risk in clinical research at investigator sites; developing the UK research nurse force: challenges and triumphs.
