Nepal Workshop 2025

Nursing research plays a vital role in improving patient care, strengthening healthcare systems, and advancing the nursing profession. However, in Nepal, the integration of research into nursing practice remains limited due to barriers such as insufficient research training, lack of institutional support, and limited access to research tools. To address these challenges, the Enhancing Knowledge on Evidence Generation in Nursing Practice workshop aims to build research capacity among nurses, nurse educators, and nursing students.

This two-day hybrid workshop, hosted at Teaching Hospital Premises, Maharajgunj Kathmandu, Nepal, will provide 60 participants with essential skills in research methodology, ethical considerations, and data analysis. Through interactive sessions led by experienced facilitators, participants will learn how to identify research questions, apply appropriate study designs, analyze data using SPSS, and prepare research findings for publication. The workshop will also introduce nurses to The Global Health Network (TGHN) and Global Research Nurses (GRN), providing access to global resources and opportunities for continued learning.

Workshop Objectives

  1. Foster a Research Culture
    • Develop an understanding of the importance of research in nursing.
    • Identify at least one research topic relevant to clinical practice.
  2. Develop Hands-On Research Skills
    • Formulate research questions, develop objectives, and select appropriate methodologies.
    • Present a draft research proposal outline.
  3. Enhance Data Analysis Competencies
    • Gain practical experience using SPSS for quantitative data analysis.
    • Learn thematic coding techniques for qualitative data analysis.
  4. Ensure Ethical Research Practices
    • Understand key ethical principles such as informed consent, confidentiality, and research integrity.
    • Apply ethical considerations in study design and implementation.
  5. Train Participants in Research Dissemination
    • Develop skills in drafting journal articles and conference abstracts.
    • Prepare research findings for professional and academic presentation.
  6. Equip Nurses for High-Quality Research
    • Create structured research plans, including problem statements, methodologies, and sample size calculations.

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the role of research in nursing practice and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Be able to formulate research questions and select suitable study designs.
  • Gain practical experience in research methodologies, data collection, and analysis.
  • Apply ethical guidelines in research involving patients and vulnerable populations.
  • Learn how to effectively present and publish research findings.
